About Tim Maxwell - Photographer & Artist

A brief biography of the man behind the lens.

Hi there, I’m Tim Maxwell—self-taught landscape photographer, proud Colorado native (well...almost; I moved here when I was around two years old), and guy who somehow decided to juggle a love for web design, photography, and content creation all at once. If you’re here, chances are you’ve stumbled across my fine art photography and want to know a little more about the person behind the lens. So, let’s dive in.

From Web Design to Wide-Open Landscapes

For the past 10 years or so, my career has been all about designing and building ecommerce websites—exclusively on the Shopify platform. In fact, I own two companies that specialize in creating Shopify themes and providing customization services (yes, I’m a certified tech geek). I’ve loved helping entrepreneurs bring their businesses to life online, but the more I helped others build their dreams, the more I wondered…what if I tried something new for myself?

Cue my entrepreneurial spirit, which has always been a little too restless to sit still for long. I decided to pair my love for content creation with my other obsession: travel. Enter my Sony A7RV camera. My original plan was to launch a travel-related YouTube channel and share my adventures. While the channel has seen moderate success, my introverted nature has made it a bit harder than I expected to keep up the "on-camera charisma" (it’s much easier talking to a lens when it’s capturing scenery and not my face).

A New Passion Behind the Lens

In trying to improve my travel videos, I started taking more still photos during my trips, and something clicked—literally and figuratively. I realized how much I loved capturing moments that told a story: the glow of golden aspens in the fall, the quiet majesty of a snow-draped mountain, the way the light reflects off a still alpine lake. Photography became a way for me to connect with the beauty of nature in a way I hadn’t before.

Then came a pivotal moment: a photography workshop in Leavenworth, Washington, led by the incredibly talented Aaron Reed. Spending a few days chasing fall colors with my camera and learning from a pro gave me a whole new appreciation for the art of landscape photography. I walked away from that experience with a renewed creative spark, a better understanding of the craft, and, frankly, some of the best photos I’ve ever taken.

Turning My Photos into Fine Art Prints

Now, here I am—starting my very own fine art photography business. My goal is simple: to share the beauty of the world through museum-quality prints that bring the outdoors into your home. Whether you’re a nature lover, a collector of art, or someone with a blank wall begging for personality, I want to help you connect with the peace and inspiration that only nature can provide.

I offer a range of high-quality fine art prints, from frameless acrylics that bring a sleek, modern vibe to your space to razor-sharp metal prints and more traditional wood-framed photography perfect for any room. Each print is crafted to highlight the details, colors, and emotions of the scene, whether it’s a misty mountain morning or a fiery autumn forest.

When I’m Not Behind the Camera...

When I’m not out chasing sunsets with my camera, you can usually find me hanging out with my two beautiful children, playing piano or basketball (albeit with more enthusiasm than skill), or binge-watching YouTube videos in an effort to improve my craft. I’m also a big fan of a good steak and watching the local Denver sports teams.

Let’s Create Something Beautiful

This photography business is a new adventure for me, and I’m excited to see where it goes. Whether you’re here to browse my collection of fine art prints, learn more about my journey, or just enjoy the work of a fellow nature enthusiast, I’m glad you stopped by.

Feel free to explore the galleries, follow me on Instagram for updates, or reach out if you have questions about my work or custom print options. Let’s bring a little more beauty and connection to the world—one photo at a time.

Thanks for joining me on this journey,
